Known for his sturdy designs capable of off shore sailing, Lyle Hess designed this 20-foot trailerable sloop and was built by Coastal Recreation from 1972 to 1981. It’s the same hull as the popular Balboa 20, but with more headroom. The beam allows trailering without a permit. The swing keel allows easy launching and retrieving on most ramps and the boat can be beached. Inside there are berths for 4 and the upholstery on this boat is new. There is a sink on the port side between the port settee and main bulkhead, but the water tank has been removed as the current owner only day sailed the boat. The rudder is hung on the transom which provides precision steering. It’s a fun boat to sail and the owner says he can put up the mast by himself.
