Bruce King created this design starting in 1971 and enjoyed a 9 year production run, which is impressive.. This 27-footer is not as small as one might wonder with a generous interior that has nice long berths in the settees, aft quarter berth and double forepeak berth for a total sleeping capacity of 5. Headroom is about 6’ in the traditional interior layout with a table that folds down when in use and up – secured to the bulkhead- when not needed (as apposed to the dinette configuration).  Her near 7,000 lb displacement offers an easy motion through the waves. The deep V cutwater stem will slice through chop rather than pounding through it and the soft turn of the bilge aids in lateral motion and after a moderate amount of heel, the boat holds steady as a rock. All Ericsons had a reputation of quality construction.  Joinery work below is quite nice. The head is enclosed aft of the forward cabin.  The galley is port of the companionway. This is a very affordable boat to get your start in sailing, or to simply enjoy a good solid, nice sailing vessel adequate for over-nighting and robust enough to handle bigger water. The owner is looking to move up to a larger sailboat and needs to sell this one first. The topsides and stripes were repainted in 2018. The deck and nonskid were redone in 2017. Yemana has remained on Lake Superior most of her life, but was featured in Dave and Amy Freeman’s 2014 “Paddle to D.C. Expedition. The Freemans traveled over 2,000 miles by water, paddling the signature canoe on the smaller lakes and rivers and sailing “Yemaya” across the Great Lakes with the canoe on board. This was the owner’s first boat and said it was an excellent introduction into sailing, owning and maintaining a larger sailboat. It is a great step up from a trailerable boat. It is easily handled by one or two people.
