In 1966 Westerly decided to broaden the appeal of their range with some faster yachts. They chose John Butler (their first out of the house designer) for a range of three boats starting with the Westerly 28, then the Cirrus 22’ and the Tiger 25’.  They were marked as cruiser/racers. The Tiger secured her place in the all time favorites list along with the Centaur, Konsort, Fulmar and Conway. She was first produced in 1969 and continued in production until 1976, when they replaced her with the fin keel version of the Centaur, called Pembroke.  All Westerlies are known for their build quality because they were sailed in the North Sea where it can get very rough. Westerly boats can take rough conditions with ease. They also are known for their interior use of space. The Tiger as the typical forepeak berth with the head just aft on the starboard side and a hanging locker to port.  In the main salon the dinette lies to starboard with the galley spread across the port side with a seat just aft of the sink.  There are quarter berths on both sides under the cockpit rounding off sleeping accommodations for 6. The Tiger would be a great Great Lakes boat and she was sailed out of Duluth MN.  The owner moved up into a 41-footer.  He is the third owner. The first owner sailed the boat from England to Maine.  The 2nd owner sailed it from Maine to Duluth. That is when the custom trailer was built for the boat.
