Eighteen Thousand for a 1971 Typhoon, you say?  You’ve got to be delusional!!!   Well, probably not, as this is by far the nicest, or if there is another lurking around somewhere, or near nicest Typhoon that you will find anywhere.  It is better than new.  Nicer than when the boat came out of the box at the factory. Just check out the photos. Carl Alberg designed it. Andy Vavalotis built it and the late Mike Dolan completely refurbished it from top to bottom/stem to stern into what is virtually a museum piece.  Really the only thing it needs is a fresh coat of bottom paint.  The sails are new, the interior is new.  The cushions are new. There are no blisters, crazing, cracks, soft spots, etc.  It is like a new boat.  Generally speaking it is one of the nicest and most popular sailboats ever built.  It sails like a dream even in heavy winds with confidence. The cockpit is deep and roomy. The hull has the Alberg full keel with attached rudder, which is very predictable, tracks very well and provides a stiff ride all the time. The hull is solid fiberglass. Well over two thousand of these boats were built over a period of 25 years starting in 1960.  The mast is deck stepped for easy raising and she rigs in minutes. Below decks the cuddy cabin contains a double forepeak berth and 2 quarter berths. The Typhoon’s generous exterior teak coamings and other trim including toe rails radiate a warmth and beauty beyond typical –especially Kar-Gin where all the teak is finished a luxurious bright varnished finish. The boat can be viewed in a heated building.
