This has to be one of the biggest 30-footers with the most roomy interior of any boat like it and it is, without doubt, one of the hottest selling 30-foot cruising sailboats ever with more than 6,000 sold. Introduced in 1974 as a step up from the 27-footer, this design remained unchanged for 20 years until the Mark II in 1986 (T-shaped cockpit) and Mark III which had a more Euro look (walk thru transom). She’s a combination of wide beam, good ballast/displacement ratio of .42 and relatively low sail area/displacement ratio of 15.1 makes the Catalina 30 a very stiff boat under sail. Frank Butler, Catalina’s founder, says his goal is to provide as much boat for the money as he can.  Size for size and feature for feature the Catalina 30 is tough to beat. She’s a typical layout with forward double cabin and main salon with a private head between.  A dinette which converts to a double is to port with a settee to starboard with chart table just aft and a very large quarter berth aft more for a total sleeping for 6. The galley is U shaped on the port side. Headroom is adequate for most.
